Community Action Committee
To raise the consciousness of the Congregation regarding our social and community responsibilities as Jews, and to demonstrate our commitment through the development of programs by which congregants can become involved, are the goals of the Community Action Committee.
We recognize the need to raise funds to help others in conjunction with such Jewish communal organizations as the Jewish Food Pantry, Mazon, and Jewish Family and Children’s Service. We are also aware of our responsibility to the greater community and thus participate in programs to benefit the homeless, the sick, and those facing other crises, whether part of the Jewish community or not.
In addition to giving in a tangible way, the committee encourages member involvement at a personal level in improving the lives of others, whether through serving meals at a homeless shelter, sharing time with the elderly at a residential facility, or befriending new Americans.
Whatever one’s circumstances, personal interests, convictions, needs, or abilities, this Committee offers ways for one to better one’s own life, as well as that of another person by becoming part of the ACTION.
