The Millstone Library
United Hebrew Congregation has recently expanded and renovated its Millstone Library, featuring state-of-the art computer technology, and free rentals of more than 750 videos to members of the Congregation.
The new library provides banks of computers with Internet access that Religious School students and their families currently are using to study Hebrew, check e-mail accounts, play educational games and conduct research.
The library expansion and the establishment of the Irwin and Irene Fox Multi-Media Center were underwritten by a generous contribution by Irene Fox and her family, in memory of Irwin Fox and in honor of Irene.
Ten computers have Hebrew/English keyboards and web access. In addition to new book displays the renovated library has added a coffee bar, reading and television corner, a children’s story area and a comprehensive collection of videos available for free weekly rentals. The Video Library, established by Jean and Harry Cohen offers videos, which run the gamut from classics, comedies and Yiddish theater to children’s programs, and films that explore the Holocaust and Jewish values.
The library is continuously updating its collection of Judaic literature with current books in the areas of Jewish values and spirituality, history, Jewish holidays and customs, the Holocaust, fiction, biographies, cookbooks, and contemporary issues. The library also has an extensive collection of Judaic books for preschoolers through young adult readers for research and recreational reading.
The Library is open on Sundays during religious school hours and on Friday nights after services. Please check in the Temple office if you need assistance when the library is closed.
