Camp Saul Spielberg

 

 

We are pleased to announce that another fabulous summer of Camp Saul Spielberg is on its way!  Children will have fun in a camp atmosphere with a Learning through Play program.  Camp Saul Spielberg offers two 3-week sessions or one 6-week session, plus Pre-Camp and Post-Camp Days.  Each age level group (14 months – 6 years) will have a qualified adult and highly responsible senior counselor.   

 

The mornings will be packed with a variety of activities – music; Hebrew; movement that includes yoga, fitness exercises, and games; science; nature; storytelling; cooking; art; playground activities; drawing; gardening; water play; swimming; woodworking; pottery clay; and more fun for all age groups.  Each week will have a different theme that incorporates a variety of the activities above relating to that theme.  The children will be surrounded daily in a Jewish atmosphere which will integrate Jewish values, traditions, and a positive Jewish identity.  

 

            Camp sessions are:     Session I:                     June 11 – June 29

                                                Session II:                    July 2 – July 20

                                                Sessions I & II  :           June 11 – July 20

                                                Pre-Camp Days:            June 4 – 8 

                                                Post-Camp Days:          July 23 – 27

Programs by Age Level

 

SHEMESH (“Sun”) – For children born between Aug. 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011
KOCHAVIM (“Stars”) – For children born between February 1, 2010 and July 31, 2010

Shemesh and Kochavim groups meet Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 9:00 – 12:00
The Shemesh and Kochavim children will come alone and have two adult counselors in their group.  Activities will be age-appropriate in music, movement, sensory play, waterplay, playground fun, art, storytelling, and science. (2 day option available).


CHAI ("Life") – For children born between August 1, 2009 and January 31, 2010
Meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00-1:00.

This group will have one adult counselor and one senior counselor.  The children will experience a variety of activities mentioned above.  The campers will bring their lunch (Monday and Wednesday). Lunches will be refrigerated.  Shabbat is a special and fun time at Camp Saul Spielberg as our Rabbis lead our Shabbat blessings and we have a family-style Shabbat lunch together, where we will provide lunch. (Optional: Choose two of these days).


ETZIM ("Trees") – For children born between August 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009
KESHET ("Rainbow”) – For children born between August 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008
Etzim and Keshet meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 until 1:00.

These groups will have one adult counselor and one senior counselor.  The children will experience a variety of activities mentioned above. The campers will bring their lunch (Monday through Thursday).  Lunches will be refrigerated.  Shabbat is a special and fun time at Camp Saul Spielberg as our Rabbis lead our Shabbat blessings and we have a family-style Shabbat lunch together, where we will provide lunch.


RU’ACH ("Spirit") – For children entering Kindergarten in Fall, 2012
MAYIM (“Water”) – For children entering First Grade in Fall, 2012
Meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 until 3:00.

These groups will have one adult counselor and one senior counselor.  The children will have additional activities in the afternoon – drama/poetry, indoor and outdoor gross motor skills, organized sportsmanship games, thinking games such as checkers, card games, etc., and a second chance to do more of the activities mentioned above.  The campers will bring their lunch (Monday through Thursday).  Lunches will be refrigerated. Shabbat is a special and fun time at Camp Saul Spielberg as our Rabbis lead our Shabbat blessings and we have a family-style Shabbat lunch together, where we will provide lunch.
