Seniors

United Hebrew offers many opportunities for our senior community to engage. In addition to the adult education and service offerings, we host two senior programs per month. The first is our Matinee Film series on the second Wednesday of every month. The second is our Senior Program, typically offered on the fourth Monday of every month unless it is in partnership with another congregation. Each of these programs begins at 12 noon with a delicious lunch followed by a film, speaker or entertainer.

Upcoming Programs

Wellness and Fitness Class

Monday, August 8, 2 p.m.

Join us for an exciting and fun 45 minute to 1 hour workshop with Joyce Hochberg. Enjoy an EASY and safe chair exercise routine to fun upbeat music. Joyce, an experienced, certified dance/exercise  instructor, believes in the total body conditioning approach to exercise and fitness. And yes, she is Cantor Murray Hochberg’s wife. Chair exercises will include arm movements, marching in place and relaxing stretching. Exercising in a chair is safe with less risk of losing one’s balance. No experience is necessary, just come in comfortable, easy moving clothes and closed toe shoes. As always, please check with your physician before exercising. There will be light snacks and refreshments following the exercise. Additional dates will be September 12 and November 7.  RSVP to April at 314-434-3404 or ahickman@unitedhebrew.org.

Matinee Film Series: The Couple
Wednesday, August 10, 12 noon

Join us for the next program in our Wednesday Matinee Film Series for the film The Couple starring Martin Landau. The film is based on the true story of a Jewish Hungarian’s desperate attempts to save his family from the Nazi death camps. Joseph Krauzenberg (Landau) is forced to hand over his vast wealth to the Nazis for the safe passage of his family out of occupied Europe, only to find his two remaining servants are left trapped in a web of deceit and danger. Their only hope for survival relies on the courage of Krauzenberg.

Lunch preceding the film will include deli sandwiches; turkey, chicken salad and egg salad, chips, watermelon, salad, dessert and popcorn.

Cost is $9 for UH members and $10 for non-members.

To RSVP, send a check payable to United Hebrew Congregation, Attn: April, 13788 Conway Road, St. Louis, MO 63141, by Monday, August 8. For more information, call April at 314-434-3404 or e-mail ahickman@unitedhebrew.org.
