Mussar is a 1,000-year-old tradition that draws on Jewish values and wisdom to guide individuals towards developing character traits that enhance spiritual growth and personal well-being. This class will be taught by Rabbi Rosenberg on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month.

3:30 p.m. – Plato & the Talmud I
Wednesdays, Feb. 17-March 10 at 7:00 p.m. or Saturdays, Feb.  20 – March 13 at 3:30 p.m.
Join Cantor Eichaker for a preliminary summary study of Plato’s two dialogues, Euthyphro and Apology followed by the Republic and a summary study of Tractate Taanit 3 in the Talmud. It is encouraged to read all four pieces but not required for the course as Cantor Eichaker will provide summary reviews of the pieces. These pieces provide a good foundation for Section 2 which will explore Jacob Howland’s book “Plato and the Talmud”.
Section 2 will be scheduled with the participants at the end of Section 1.
This class is free for UH members and $25 for non-members.

Join the United Hebrew, Shaare Emeth, Temple Israel and Temple Emanuel Seniors for a Zoom program with Billy Planer from Etgar 36. His presentation will explore the reality of the relationship between the Jewish and Black communities during the Civil Rights era. Why were there Jews on both sides, and the sidelines, of the Civil Rights movement? What was the role of Judaism in the activism of young people in the 1960s? Join Dr. Isaac Amon for a trip back in time and space to the origins, experience, and legacy of Sephardic Jewry on the Iberian Peninsula.  The first session will focus on the origins, experience, and life on the Iberian Peninsula up to the late 15th century. The session will follow the Crypto-Jews who endured under the Inquisition, before fleeing to various places such as London, Amsterdam, Brazil, and then on to these United States. Register here.
