Join us for a weekly month-long series The June 1967 War: How It Changed Jewish, Israeli and Middle Eastern History.  The series will begin on Thursday, August 3 at 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and run for 5 consecutive Thursdays in August.  The curriculum is designed by the Center for Israel Education in Atlanta in conjunction with ARZA, the Association for Reform Zionists of America.  It gives a historic background to the June 1967 War and an amplification of its aftermath. We will discuss why the June 1967 War was a transformative moment in Jewish, Israeli, and Middle Eastern history.  Some of the topics of discussion include how and why the war solidified Israel’s existence, expanded the content of the  Arab-Israeli conflict to include negotiations, altered internal Israeli politics, blended religious Zionism with the political right, changed the relationship between Israel and the Diaspora, unfolded the diplomatic concept of land for peace, and many more.

This program is sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of St. Louis through its Year of Civil Discourse Initiative which is funded by the Jewish Federation of St. Louis and with the generosity and support of the Kranzberg Family Foundation, Lubin-Green Foundation and Staenberg Family Foundation, which are supporting foundations of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis.
